Plant people, it’s our time! PlantCon is back in Houston, and I am soooo ready to make the exact same mistakes I made last time. 🪴 Allow me to explain.

I bought three plants at the last PlantCon despite living in a house with basically one usable patch of sunlight. Now every plant I own is crammed into that corner like they’re competing for resources. The funniest part is my notoriously difficult plants are somehow flourishing while every “easy” plant is slowly giving up on me.

Long story short, the three easy plants I bought are no longer with us. RIP my little babies. 😭 But am I ready to try again? Absolutely. JUST ANNOUNCED

• Austin psych-rock favorites The Black Angels return to Houston at White Oak Music Hall on December 3 with Night Drive. Get lost in the sound and let the guitars do the rest.

• 112 is bringing the R&B nostalgia to Bayou Music Center on Friday, December 18. Expect favorites like “Cupid,” “Only You,” and “Peaches & Cream” from the group that helped define late ’90s and early 2000s R&B. Make it a slow jam Friday.

• Christmas gets a little jazzier when Kat Edmonson brings Have Your Merry Christmas With Me to The Heights Theater on Monday, December 21. The Houston native mixes holiday classics with new originals and plenty of vintage charm. Close out the season with her.

• From Fisk to his Netflix special Funny Garden, Aaron Chen has perfected his wonderfully awkward style of comedy. Catch him at House of Blues Houston on Saturday, January 16 when he brings his new stand-up show Technology to town.
