I’m trying to get back into doing more outdoorsy things lately. A little about me, I’ve lived in San Diego, Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, Baltimore, London, and Beirut, and in every one of those places I made it a point to be outside. Hiking, walking, anything to be in nature. So now I’m asking, where are the good outdoor spots in Houston or even just outside the city? Put me on.

• The Heights Theater has a full lineup worth paying attention to right now. The Droptines, Lisa Morales with Los Texmaniacs, Moe., Jensen McRae, and Whitney are all coming through. It is a strong mix across genres, and each show brings something different. Pick your night and go.*

• Bleed lands at White Oak Music Hall on May 20 for a night that does not ease up. If you like your shows on the heavier side, go see it live.

• Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder take over Dosey Doe on August 28 with a set rooted in bluegrass and musicianship that carries the room. If you know, you know. Save your seat.
