I’m so ready to come home, y’all. The FOMO has been REAL writing about all these Houston events every day knowing I can’t actually be there. Trust me, I’d much rather be out with y’all than in San Diego unpacking my family trauma like it’s a suitcase I definitely did not check. 😭
Also, shout out to our intern Jadenne! This is her last day and she brought you soooooo many inspiring guides of things to do in Houston this summer. We are so sad to see her go! Let’s all collectively say, “THANK YOU, JADENNE!”
Canabliss is taking over Meow Wolf on September 5, and we’re giving away a pair of tickets! Enter for your chance to win, then go get lost in the bass, art, and wonderfully weird Meow Wolf universe. 🔊✨
JUST ANNOUNCED
Andrew Schulz is known for fearless crowd work, sharp takes, and absolutely zero interest in playing it safe. Catch him at Houston Improv September 18–19 and prepare to become part of the material.
R&B royalty is taking over The Woodlands. Babyface brings decades of hits to Majic Under The Stars at Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion on October 24. Bring somebody you can dramatically sing “Whip Appeal” at.
Eric Prydz has been bending dance floors to his will for decades. Catch him at Ductwork on November 7 and give your screen-time report something new to complain about: absolutely no phone time.
Sad-girl pop with enough bite to make it fun? Olivia O’Brien brings The PIXIE Tour to The Bronze Peacock on November 8. Leave the ex blocked and come process things recreationally.
Plus other just announced shows in Houston!
YOUR GUIDE TO ASIAN FOOD IN HOUSTON
As someone who’s West Asian (Lebanese and Armenian), I do NOTTTTT play about Asian food. In my completely biased opinion (sue me), no other continent has this much RANGE. Lebanese mezze, Vietnamese pho, Korean barbecue, Indian curries, Japanese ramen, Chinese dumplings, Filipino favorites... I could keep going. Houston lets us eat our way across an entire continent without leaving the city, so obviously we made a guide to help you do exactly that.

IN THE FUTURE
8.24-8.26 - LIFETIME MEMBERSHIP AT SWITCHYARDS EAST END* 10.2 - JOE KOY at TOYOTA CENTER 10.17 - TEXAS ARTS & MUSIC FESTIVAL at DOWNTOWN BRENHAM (FREE) |
UPCOMING SHOWS AT SMART FINANCIAL CENTRE
Smart Financial Centre is keeping Sugar Land booked and busy with a seriously stacked upcoming calendar. Catch neo-soul queen Jill Scott, Grammy-winning bluegrass favorite Billy Strings, indie R&B star Steve Lacy, plus The Wiz and more heading to the venue. Whether your playlist leans soulful, psychedelic, bluegrass, or Broadway, there’s a night worth circling on your calendar. Consider the drive to Sugar Land officially justified.*
LOCALS ONLY
Houston has doubled its number of dedicated comedy venues from four to eight. New additions include Pink Flamingo Comedy Club downtown, The Den in Northside, and a new club coming upstairs at Rudyard’s. Apparently Houston said we need more places to laugh.
Back-to-school season may be here, but Houston refuses to give up summer. Twenty-two city community pools are staying open through Labor Day, meaning there’s still time to squeeze in a few more free pool days before fall.

FEATURED
Alright, that’s enough oversharing from me for one day. 😭 I’ll see y’all back here tomorrow with more things to do in Houston and hopefully significantly less emotional baggage. Unless you want the family tea... in which case, reply back. I’ve got STORIES. ☕👀
Cheers,
Pamela
