IT’S ALMOST THE WEEKEND!
I wish I could tell y'all I have some fabulous plans this weekend, but unfortunately, I'll be spending it surrounded by cardboard boxes, packing tape, and everything I've accumulated over the years. Your girl is moving! Which also means I'll be taking two weeks off starting November 17. Don't miss me too much, and be nice to my friends who will be taking over while I'm gone.
But enough about my moving struggles. Let's talk about something actually fun! Chris Tucker is coming to Smart Financial Centre at Sugar Land on December 5, and we're giving away a pair of suite tickets! Enter for your chance to win because laughing from a suite sounds like a pretty fabulous way to spend a Saturday night.
JUST ANNOUNCED
Thinking about switching careers or finally getting that promotion? Houston's full of opportunities, and WGU can help you get there. Check out our guide to finding better jobs without putting your entire life on hold.*
Connecticut metalcore band Currents brings crushing riffs, emotional lyrics, and their upcoming album Our Fates Lie in Tandem to House of Blues Houston on March 14. Stretch those neck muscles because this one's getting heavy.
Reggae, punk, and metalcore all in one band? Somehow, SiM makes it work. The Japanese rockers take over Warehouse Live Midtown on May 18 with Zero 9:36 and Aurorawave. Come experience the chaos firsthand!
A little heartbreak sounds better in Spanish. Enjambre brings their signature blend of alternative rock and romantic lyrics to White Oak Music Hall on May 27. Find your fellow rock en español lovers and make a night of it.
Plus other just announced shows in Houston!
LOCAL BUSINESSES TO SUPPORT
Before we all start panic-shopping for the holidays, can we agree on one thing? Shop local whenever possible! Houston is full of independent businesses doing incredible things, and I'd much rather see our hard-earned money going back into our own community. Supporting Houston's economy starts with us, and there's no better time to show our local businesses some love.
If you're a Houston local who has some VERY strong opinions about the best places in our city, reply to this email! We want to feature your favorites.

Monthly To-Do: Help Families in Crisis With CARE®
This one doesn’t need a ticket or an RSVP. When hunger, conflict, or disaster hits, families need help long after the news moves on, and a CARE®️ monthly membership keeps food, clean water, and medical supplies arriving the whole time. CARE has been doing this for 80 years, and 97% of its staff live in the countries and regions where they work, so your gift gets there fast and sticks around. Setup is simple, and the gift is tax-deductible.*
LOCALS ONLY
Thousands of rubber ducks are racing down Buffalo Bayou. Yes, you read that correctly. The eighth annual Bayou City Duck Race returns to Bayou Park at East River on November 7, with 6,000 rubber ducks hitting the water to support American Festival for the Arts.
Houston's sixth annual Día de los Muertos Parade and Festival takes over Sam Houston Park on November 7 from 4 to 10 PM. Expect a colorful procession, live music, food, and a beautiful community celebration honoring loved ones. Admission is free!
