Bonsoir, Houston! I recently learned about the three-hobby rule: find something creative, something intellectual, and something physical. Supposedly, this is very good for your brain, and unfortunately, I heard that and immediately decided I needed three new hobbies.

So get in! We’re doing ceramics, relearning French, and kickboxing. By the end of this year, I'd better have handmade mugs, conversational French, and a mean right hook. Hold me accountable, okay??? Merci. 🥐

HALLOWEEN EVENTS IN HOUSTON

Apparently the Halloween we grew up with is considered “vintage” now, and honestly, I’m choosing to embrace it. Give me the old-school neon decorations, spooky movies, nostalgic Halloween designs, and all the things that remind me of being a kid. Houston has plenty happening this year too.

Start with two Halloween parties at Habibi Bazaar! Make your own spooky “rug” mirror or recreate a vintage-inspired Halloween rug to hang at home. There’ll be spooky movies, treats, and plenty of Halloween vibes. Here’s what else is happening:

• Lawrence Park is getting a major makeover. Renovations officially break ground Thursday, September 24 in the Heights. Plans include two shaded playgrounds, improved walking paths, a fitness area, upgrades to the baseball bleachers, and new connections to the MKT Trail. Construction could wrap as early as next summer.
