Houston, I'm home! Salt Lake City was beautiful, but there's something deeply comforting about unlocking your own front door, flopping onto your own couch, and pretending the pile of laundry doesn't exist for at least another day. Home really is home.

Now that I'm back, let's talk about one of the biggest voices coming to Houston. Teddy Swims is headed to Toyota Center this October with the soulful vocals and chart-topping hits that turned him into a global superstar. Enter for your chance to win a pair of tickets.

JUST ANNOUNCED

  • On October 16, indie favorite beabadoobee brings her dreamy mix of bedroom pop, alternative rock, and confessional songwriting to The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion. Wear the outfit you've been saving for the photo dump.

  • Turnover heads to Houston on November 8 with the atmospheric sound and introspective lyrics that made Peripheral Vision an indie classic. Find the friend who had this album on repeat and make plans.

  • If your playlists bounce between punk anthems and indie favorites, November 12 is already spoken for. Wednesday and Mannequin Pussy headline Bitch Cabal at White Oak for one unforgettable lineup.

MONDAY IN MONTROSE

Photo: Sarah Hobson

Mondays don't have to be boring, especially in Montrose. Whether you're grabbing coffee, browsing local shops, checking out an art gallery, or ending the day with happy hour, this neighborhood knows how to make an ordinary weekday feel a little more exciting. I rounded up some of my favorite spots so you can spend less time deciding where to go and more time enjoying one of Houston's most iconic neighborhoods.

THIS WEEK

LOCALS ONLY

  • Hank, Peggy, Bobby, and the rest of the gang are back. The newest King of the Hill trailer has longtime fans excited to see how the beloved Texas family takes on today's world.

  • One of the best World Cup traditions is back. Japanese fans have once again been spotted cleaning up their sections after matches, a decades-long tradition that's become just as memorable as the games themselves. They've also shown up in creative costumes inspired by anime and the Japanese flag as Brazil and Japan face off in Houston.

WIN STUFF

Before I go, don't let Monday fool you. There are plenty of good things waiting for you this week, and hopefully a few of them are in this email.
